North Putnam Cougars get 18th win against Riverton Parke

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam baseball team followed up its county championship with a win against Riverton Parke at home on Tuesday, 12-8.

The Cougars piled up 17 hits in the game, led by senior Michael Herrmann, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles.

Senior Kyler Badten had two hits and junior Jordan Nauert was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Cougars' starting pitcher Beau Green picked up his fifth win of the season, going four innings and striking out four. Green also went 3-for-4 at the plate.

After going down 3-0, the Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the first and four in the bottom of the second to take a lead it did not relinquish.

The NPHS offense got most of its runs with two hits, but also left several runs on the base path.

Junior Coy Flynn came on in relief of Green and struck out three in 1.2 innings. Senior Jake Haste earned the save. He struck out three and allowed no runs and no hits in 1.1 innings.

The Cougars (18-3-1) play at Danville on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and at Bethesda on Friday at 5 p.m.
