The Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police held its first 5K memorial walk/run on Sunday. With 71 participants, organizer Jerrod Baugh was happy with the turn out which was originally estimated at 50. The idea for doing the memorial run/walk came from the FOP running team that has participated in several mini-marathons and 5Ks in Indianapolis and surrounding area. The FOP running team believed that DePauw Nature Park would be and ideal place to host the event. Indiana Regional Ambulance Services and DJ Q donated their time and services to the event. The 5K was sponsored by several local business and community members: Putnam County Lodge 52, Andy Mohr Automotive, K and B Arms Fillmore, Chrissy's Health and Fitness Blog, Guardian Firearms, Dave's Heating and Cooling, Central Indiana Law Enforcement Training Network, First National Bank, JTN Services, C and R Quality Rentals, Greencastle VFW Post 1550, Don Lewis, Robert and Dawn Townley, Putnam Co. Convention and Visitors Bureau, Culligan Water, U.S. Foods, Otis Spunkmeyer Inc. and Dixie Chopper Business Center. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Indiana Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors.
