Parade route clean-up was volunteer effort

Friday, August 2, 2013

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Putnam Co 4-H Parade Committee and the residents of Greencastle we would like to thank the members of Greencastle Civic League, Greencastle Rotary Club, Girl Scout Troop 10307 led by Scout Leader Melanie Welker, the family and friends of Tracy and Denny Bridges and Washington Street families for volunteering their time and energy to clean up the parade route immediately after the parade on July 19.

Thanks to their help we were able to quickly restore the cleanliness of our streets from Percy Julian Drive to the downtown.

The evening was absolutely perfect. Our participants and spectators had a wonderful time enjoying the kickoff to the 4-H Fair.

Once again we are proud to live in a caring, community-minded county. We hope to engage our partners next year in ways to continue another successful and enjoyable event.

Thanks to all!
