Quite a Quilt

Monday, August 12, 2013
The name of Suzanne Travelstead (second from right) was drawn as the winner of the Sunbonnet Sue and Fisherman Fred quilt that was on display in the Adult Open Class exhibit hall during the 2013 Putnam County Fair. The quilt was made from squares entered in the 2012 Quilt Block contest sponsored by the One Stitch at a Time Quilt Club. Travelstead was thrilled to win it, especially since she had made two of the squares that went into the quilt. Sponsors of the Quilt Block Contest and drawing were pleased to have the quilt go to such a deserving person as Travelstead is known for making and donating many quilts to cancer patients over the years. Displaying the quilt are (from left) Adult Open Class Superintendent Shelly Tahtinen; Cindy Carter, president of One Stitch at a Time Quilt Club; quilt winner Travelstead, and Jean Beilby, former president of One Stitch at a Time.
