County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11:30 p.m. Friday, Melissa Ann Johnson, 26, Greencastle, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, Melissa Hargis-McCullough, 42, Cloverdale, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, operating while intoxicated, possession of a legend drug, three counts of possession of a schedule drug and child endangerment.

At 11:59 p.m. Buddie Thomas Nichols, 34, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on two counts of battery.

* At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Tina Louise Smallwood, 50, Poland, was booked in for operating while intoxicated and public intoxication.

At 3 a.m. Joshua Allen Ashby, 31, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 4 a.m. Jake Edwin Secrest, 24, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 12:30 p.m. Natalie Elisa Murrell, 26, Indianapolis, was held at the jail for probation violation.

At 7:25 p.m. Henry Eugene Zimmer, 27, Greencastle, was booked in for probation violation.

* At 4:14 p.m. Monday, Anthony Michael Lehr, 23, Cloverdale, was arrested for harassment.

At 10:50 p.m. Quental DeWayne Weston, 25, South Bend, was charged with failure to appear.

* At 4:41 a.m. Tuesday, Logan Spencer Campbell, 24, Greencastle, was booked in for probation violation.

Sheriff's Department

* At 3:26 p.m. on Thursday, Eric L. Rust, 40, Brazil, was driving southwest on County Road 600 East in a 2007 Ford F150 when he lost control of the truck.

He left the road on the southeast side, hitting a utility pole, which broke, exposing the line across the roadway.

Sgt. Craig Sibbitt said the road was closed for approximately three hours will crews fixed the pole. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8:08 a.m. on Monday, Deborah A. Leonard, 61, Greencastle, was westbound on Rangeline Road just west of County Road 175 East in a 2012 Chevrolet Impala. She told Deputy Ronnie Campbell she slowed down as she met a large vehicle heading eastbound.

Travis G. Gray, 24, Fillmore, was also westbound behind Leonard in a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer. He told Campbell the oncoming vehicle was not in the way and he believed there was no reason for Leonard to slow down.

Gray struck Leonard's car in the rear. Gray was also cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 12:51 p.m. on Monday, Frank G. Bires, 69, Hamlin, N.Y., was westbound on Interstate 70 near the 38-mile marker when he left the roadway in a construction zone.

Sgt. Sibbitt reported that the vehicle left the north side of the road, colliding with a mobile construction buggy and continuing westbound in a ditch for about 150 yards before colliding with two small trees and coming to rest.

Bires told Sibbitt he could have fallen asleep.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
