Eagles, Tiger Cubs compete at semi-state cross country meet
CARMEL -- Greencastle had four competitor and South Putnam two at the Carmel Semi-State cross country meet on Saturday.
Junior Madison Egold was the top local finisher. She placed 111th in 20:56, only a slight dip from last week on a significantly tougher course. Ariel Higgins finished at 22:08 for the Eagles. The pair were the first South Putnam girls to ever qualify for the semi-state.
Junior Samantha Haynes was the top finisher for the Tiger Cubs. She finished at 21:53. She was followed closely by junior Brittany Love, who came in at 22:13. Sophomore Corrie Romer gutted out a tough race to finish at 24:01.
Elijah Brattain was an individual qualifier for the Greencastle boys' team. He finished in 132nd-place at 17:47.
None of the local racers advanced to state finals. Story will be updated.
