Tiger Cubs come up short in meet at Bloomington North
BLOOMINGTON -- The Greencastle co-ed swim team faced a stiff challenge on Tuesday, competing at powerhouse Bloomington North and getting an early-season glimpse at some elite competition.
The Tiger Cubs lost close in both meets, the boys going down 107-76 and the girls 111-72.
Senior captain Nash Firebaugh led the Tiger Cubs with wins in the 50 free and the 100 butterfly.
"Both the boys and the girls swam very well against the powerhouse Bloomington North squads," GHS coach Kent Menzel said. "(In addition to Firebaugh), I was also happy to see very solid swims on the girls team from Senior and Captain Emily Wheeler, who delivered excellent efforts in both the 100 fly and 100 breast."
Senior Nathan Gardner got a win for the Tiger Cubs in the 100 back, junior Elijah Brattain in the 100 free and junior Levi Lewis in diving.
Greencastle swims next at Southmont on Thursday.
