ROACHDALE -- In a game postponed on Jan. 11, the North Putnam Cougars defeated the Eminence Eels 67-20.

The Cougars (2-11) looked to make it three straight years with a win over the Eels (1-14) and easily succeeded in doing that.

Senior Madi Asbell drained four 3s and led all players with 19 points. Not far behind was senior Bethany Wiatt with 17 points.

"It was a game we needed. Eminence is a team that struggles, and we do too at times," Coach Curtis Lawrence said. "We just went out with the mindset that we were going to press them and force turnovers and we got a lot of easy baskets which helps the girls confidence."

Not far behind Asbell and Wiatt was fellow senior Alexandria Land, who tabbed 11 points, and sophomore Taylor Nauert rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points.

Also scoring for the Cougars was junior Kaitlin Mindiola with four points, junior Kayla Clodfelter, junior Rickie Evans and freshman Madisyn Smith with a basket apiece.

"We played a really solid ballgame last night against Eminence and that is good for us, it was a win we desperately needed," said Lawrence.
