Greencastle Housing Authority sets update to five-year plan

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

The Greencastle Housing Authority (GHA) invites comments from the public on the five-year agency plan update for the operation of GHA.

The Five-Year Plan update includes an update on the preference of the waiting list. Currently GHA serves all Putnam County residents, then serves out-of-county residents in chronological order from when they applied.

The update would be changed to serve the following:

1. All Putnam County residents have priority in chronological order by date of application.

2. Hurricane/natural disaster victims in chronological order by date of application.

3. Residents within 50 miles/surrounding counties in chronological order by date of application.

4. Residents of Indiana (those who live outside of the 50-mile radius or surrounding counties) in chronological order by date of application.

5. Out-of-state applicants in chronological order by date of application.

The Five-Year Plan has been updated due to the Putnam County preference waiting list being exhausted.

On Thursday, March 20, the GHA will conduct a public hearing on the plan update at 309 E. Franklin St., Greencastle, during the GHA's regularly scheduled board meeting at 5:15 p.m.

Public comments will be taken through Thursday, March 6, and will be considered for inclusion in the final plan update, GHS Executive Director Nicole Christlieb noted.
