County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

* At 4:20 a.m., Orland Lecile Cyphers III, 31, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior, criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement.

At 10 a.m., Edward Thomas Misamore, 41, Plainfield, was charged with nonsupport of a dependent.

At 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Gracie Leeann Bell, 34, Warsaw, was charged with contempt of court.

City Police

An 18-year-old Greencastle man is facing four charges, including two counts of theft, as a result of his arrest Thursday morning by Greencastle City Police officers.

Jacob Elijah Williams, who was taken into custody at 9:45 a.m. was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of theft, possession of stolen property and residential entry.

He was charged with one theft count and possession of stolen property for allegedly taking two iPhones and a Nintendo 3DS from the residence of Rebecca Treadwell. The newer of the two phones has been recovered, police said.

Williams is charged with residential entry and theft for allegedly taking jewelry and old coins from the apartment of Frank Waner Jr., who resides in the same building as the suspect at 515 Elm St., Greencastle.

Officer Ed Wilson and Darrel Bunten reported that the majority of the coins were recovered from the suspect's apartment.

The police report did not list a monetary value for the stolen items.

One recent traffic citation was reported by city officers.

-- At 4:51 a.m. Friday, Nicholas Bennett, 23, Greencastle, was ticketed at Indianapolis Road and 10th Street by Officer Kyle Lee for being an operator never licensed.

Sheriff's Dept.

One recent accident was reported by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

At 5 a.m. Wednesday, Mark A. Anderson, 25, Fillmore, was westbound on County Road 300 North when several deer entered the roadway in front of him.

Anderson told Sgt. Gregg Slover that he attempted to steer around the animals and lost control of his 2005 Ford Econoline 450 on the icy roadway.

The vehicle left the south side of the roadway, striking a guardrail end, going airborne and falling approximately 15 feet into a creek before it rolled onto the driver's side.

Anderson reported no injuries.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
