County Jail
Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.
* At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Lee Hughes, 44, Van Wert, Ohio, was charged with nonsupport of a dependent.
* At 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, Jose Ricardo Sanchez-Reyes, 31, Indianapolis, was charged with operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.
* At 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, Timothy Wise, 31, Indianapolis, was charged with operating while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license.
At 12:30 a.m., Jeffrey Skinner, 56, Greencastle, was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent and failure to appear.
At 1:20 a.m., Jacob Nicholas Cole, 29, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
At 5 a.m., Eric Matthew Walker, 55, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.
At 9:20 p.m., James Daniel Cooper, 31, Greencastle, was charged with a probation violation.
* At 12:40 a.m. on Monday, Chadwick J. Mullins, 36, Greenwood, was charged with failure to appear and nonsupport of a dependent.
At 2:12 p.m., Chapin Ray Manning, 27, Greencastle, was charged with theft.
At 6:25 p.m., Natasha Evette Steward, 38, Indianapolis, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and failure to appear.
* At 4:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Nicholas Leon Bennett, 71, Greencastle, was charged with failure to appear.
Sheriff's Dept.
Five recent accidents were investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.
* At 4:10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, Christina Glass, 37, Greencastle, was pulling into a driveway of a residence located at 3214 S. C.R. 200 W.
Glass informed Lt. Donnie Pettit that due to the ice her 2004 Dodge Durango Limited slid into a parked 2005 Jeep Liberty, which was owned by Barbara A. Christ of Bainbridge.
Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
* At 12:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, Austin A. Turner, 23, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 1275 South, applying sand to the roadway.
As Turner rounded the corner, his snowplow attachment on his 2013 truck struck Kandi M. Stewart, 28, Cloverdale, who was entering the corner from the opposite direction.
Stewart and Turner both advised Sgt. Jon Chadd that they did not see the other vehicle due to large pine trees in the corner. Both drivers attempted to avoid the collision, but could not due to icy conditions.
Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
* At 1:56 p.m. on Friday, Christainey N. Gray, 20, Cloverdale, was eastbound on Cool Evening Drive as James T. Thomas, 61, Cloverdale, was southbound on Cool Evening Court.
Thomas advised Deputy Matt Biggs that he was unable to stop his 2003 Ford Econoline E350 at the stopsign and slid through the intersection due to road conditions. His vehicle then struck Gray's 2003 Pontiac Sunfire.
Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
* At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Adam C. Gehring, 29, Cloverdale, was driving on County Road 75 West near County Road 800 South when he was run off the road by another vehicle.
Gehring advised Deputy Tyler Turner that his 2003 Dodge Ram then impacted a ditch and jackknifed the trailer he was pulling, causing damage to the driver bedside of his truck.
Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
* At 10 a.m. on Sunday, Lewis K. Kohler, 20, Cloverdale, was northbound on County Road 300 East when he began to slow his 1997 Dodge Ram for a curve.
Kohler advised Sgt. Gregg Slover that the front end of his pickup began to slide and slid off the east side of the roadway, striking two mailboxes and a utility pole.
Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
City Police
Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.
-- At 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, a car-deer accident was reported on State Road 240, east of Greencastle in Chadd Valley.
Robert W. McIlrath, 51, Stilesville was westbound, driving a 2013 Dodge Caravan owned by Gelco Corp., Newburgh, when a deer ran into his path and was struck.
Officer Albert Epple estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
-- At 10:28 a.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred at East and South streets in the Foxridge area on Greencastle's southeast side.
Officer Darrel Bunten reported that Ashley Eads, 26, Greencastle, was rounding a curve in a 2007 Pontiac, when a 2004 Ford F-150, driven by Brian K. Williams, 42, Greencastle, also entered the curve which had been narrowed by snow along both sides.
Both drivers were unable to avoid a collision as their vehicles slid on the snow-covered roadway.
Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.
