Larry Lee Scobee

Larry Lee Scobee, 71, of Roachdale, surrounded by his family, was ushered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

He was born on March 28, 1943 in Putnam County to Thomas E. Scobee and Vivian I. Martin Scobee.

After graduation from high school, Larry served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Hanna Street Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee.

Larry was a retired electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 481 in Indianapolis.

Larry was a loving husband, wonderful father and beloved grandpa, who dearly loved his Lord and family. He enjoyed his work as an electrician, especially when he could come to the aid of his children with their projects.

His parents and a sister, Susie Riggen, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Pat whom he married on May 5, 1961; four children, Diana Mathison and husband Barry of Crawfordsville, Brian Scobee of Roachdale, Amy Rich and husband Christopher of Columbus, Ind., and Vanessa Kersey and husband Mike of Indianapolis; two sisters, Becky Voss and husband Dale of Indianapolis, and Glen Ellen Riggen and husband Mike of New Market; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Hanna Street Baptist Church with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Blakesburg Cemetery near Fincastle.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21 from 4-8 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
