County Jail

One person was booked into the Putnam County Jail Thursday.

* At 11 a.m. on Thursday, Joseph Alen Hagan, 24, Cloverdale was arrested on a probation violation.

* At 6:24 p.m. on Wednesday, Jamie L. Klee, 28, Plainfield, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 36 approaching the intersection of U.S. 231 when her phone rang.

Klee advised Deputy Mike Downing that she looked down to answer her phone and when she looked back, she saw that the light had turned red.

In an effort to avoid the vehicle in front of her, Klee swerved her 1991 Honda Accord to the right and hit Kevin W. Davis, 32, Greencastle, head on.

Davis advised Downing that he was northbound on U.S. 231 waiting to turn westbound on U.S. 36. When the light turned green, he started moving forward to turn left when Klee ran the red light swerving into his lane of travel and hitting his 1996 Honda Accord.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

Three recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 8:22 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Indianapolis Road, east of the stoplight in front of Kroger.

Mark Bone, 50, Greencastle, was westbound, driving a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander when a car two vehicles ahead of him stopped suddenly to turn. Bone was able to stop without hitting the vehicle in front of him, but a westbound 2002 BMW, driven by Edward Miller, 54, Greencastle, could not and struck the Bone vehicle from behind, Capt. Chris Jones reported.

Total damage in the mishap was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 2:35 p.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Jackson and Franklin streets on the northwest side of the courthouse square.

Lon Van Horn, 42, Coatesville, had stopped his eastbound 1998 Jeep Wrangler at the stopsign on Franklin, and as he attempted to enter Jackson Street, he did not see a northbound 2008 Dodge Avenger, driven by Ronald Cotrell, 46, Logansport, and a collision occurred.

Officer Albert Epple estimated total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 5:09 p.m. Saturday, April 26, the Walmart parking lot, 1750 Indianapolis Rd., was the scene of a two-vehicle accident.

Sgt. Terry Eastham reported that Sharon Woods, 51, Reelsville, was backing a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado from a parking space as a 2009 Chevrolet, driven by Anthony Bunton, 45, Fillmore, was passing down the aisle behind her and a collision occurred.

Total damage was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

Four recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 5:05 p.m. Wed-nesday, Charla Settles, 39, Coatesville, was cited on Avenue B by Officer Epple for having an expired license plate (November 2013).

-- At 11:50 p.m., Monday, Dillion Price, 17, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Eric Vaughan at North Arlington Street and Shadowlawn Avenue for being an operator never licensed.

-- At 12:05 a.m. Sunday, April 27, Robert Davis Jr., 39, Indianapolis, was cited by Officer Matt Huffman at Bloomington and Seminary streets for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 9:55 p.m. April 25, Tosha Dowell, 20, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for speeding. She was cited for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed one medical assist and made one response since Thursday evening.

* At 11:05 a.m. Friday, GFD was called to 304 S. Indiana St. to investigate a fire alarm. The alarm was triggered by cooking.
