County Jail
Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.
* At 10:59 p.m., Chapin Ray Manning, 27, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
At 12:05 p.m., Jason Skinner, 35, Avon, was charged with a probation violation.
City Police
Two theft cases at the Greencastle Walmart were investigated recently by City Police officers.
* Two men were arrested in a July 25 incident at the store, Capt. Mike Hanlon reported.
Trey Vickrey, 22, Greencastle, was charged with theft and Guy Parrish, 27, Greencastle, was charged with theft and possession of a syringe when they were arrested at 6:30 p.m.
Authorities allege the pair took a laptop, valued at $229, by cutting its security wires off and putting it in a backpack, along with a pair of Cobra walkie-talkies.
* At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Alicia Sexton, 20, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Matt Huffman after allegedly taking a set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles window treatments from the Walmart store.
She reportedly stuffed the item, valued at $19.88, into a large purse and placed it on the bottom of the cart while paying for other items.
Sexton was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.
Two additional arrests were reported by city officers.
* At 9:40 p.m. July 25, Timothy Wallace, 29, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee at Judson Drive and the entrance to Castlebury Apartments.
Officer Lee was serving a warrant on Wallace for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine when the suspect reportedly fled.
Once arrested, he was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on additional counts of resisting law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a legend drug.
* At 11:36 p.m. July 25, Paige Simpkins, 20, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Lee at her Northview Apartments residence. She was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a warrant for battery.
Two recent accidents were investigated by city officers.
* At 8:35 p.m. Sunday, July 27, three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at Veterans Highway and Warren Drive.
Andrew Pfeiffer, 21, Greencastle, was westbound on Veterans Highway, driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse, when a 1993 Mazda, driven by Jerryd McCoy, 24, Greencastle, entered his path from Warren Drive. Police said McCoy failed to stop at the stopsign.
Injured as a result of the collision were three occupants of the Eclipse:
-- Siera Heim, 18, Pittsboro, a front-seat passenger, who suffered a fractured right ankle.
-- Blake Johnson, 24, Indianapolis, who complained of pain all over.
-- Pfeiffer, the driver, who incurred cuts and scrapes and an eye injury.
All were transported to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life ambulance.
The collision, which sent the Mitsubishi into a ditch, resulted in damage listed in excess of $10,000.
McCoy was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense, false or fictitious registration, operating without financial responsibility and failure to yield the right of way.
* At 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, a one-vehicle mishap was reported on Wood Street, just north of Tennessee Street, as Levi Lewis, 17, Greencastle, was northbound in a 2002 Toyota.
He told Sgt. Charles Inman that as he reached for a drink cup in the center console he simultaneously sneezed, causing his right-side tires to drop off the edge of the roadway.
His vehicle then struck a utility pole, resulting in an estimated $2,500-$5,000 damage.
One recent citation was issued by Capt. Chris Jones.
* At 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Michelle Tinsley, 44, Greencastle, was cited on East Franklin Street for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
City Fire
The Greencastle Fire Department has been dispatched several times recently.
* At 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, GFD was called to 1542 Bloomington St. to provide general cleanup of a motor vehicle accident in which no one was injured.
* At 4:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 100 W. Hanna St. which was triggered from dust that had been caused from construction inside the building.
