City Police

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greeencastle City Police officers.

-- At 11:20 a.m. Thursday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on Indianapolis Road at Percy Julian Drive.

Austin Pierle, 20, Indianapolis, was eastbound on Indianapolis Road, driving a 1997 Oldsmobile, when his brakes failed, Officer Albert Epple reported.

Unable to stop, his car ran into the rear of a 2013 Ford F-250 truck, driven by Richard Warren, 58, Rockville. Warren was stopped in traffic when his truck was stuck from behind.

Epple estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 11:46 a.m. Sept. 30, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Indianapolis Road near 10th Street.

GPD Officer Darrel Bunten noted that Nicholas Capps, 19, Greencastle, was slowing for a vehicle in front of him to turn left when his car was rear-ended by a 1999 Dodge Caravan, driven by Katelyn Sibbitt, 22, Coatesville.

Sibbitt told police her van had been struck in the rear by a white SUV that reportedly fled the scene.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $2,500-$5,000.
