Fillmore woman arrested for criminal recklessness

FILLMORE -- A 34-year-old Putnam County woman was arrested Friday evening for allegedly shooting her boyfriend's buddy during a recent altercation.

Lindsey Fletcher, of 1386 S. CR 525 East, Fillmore, was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for alleged criminal recklessness.

At 5:41 p.m. Friday, Indiana State Police Troopers James Crisp and Kyle Hall served the warrant at Fletcher's residence near Fillmore. She was taken into custody and incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail without bond on the felony charge.

The criminal recklessness charge stems from a Dec. 30 incident in which authorities allege Fletcher shot Zachary C. Wood, a 24-year-old friend of her boyfriend.

Just after noon on Dec. 30, Wood reportedly walked into the Indiana State Police post at Putnamville, telling officers he had been shot by the girlfriend of a male acquaintance during the late evening hours of Dec. 29.

A criminal investigation was then launched and during the nearly month-long investigation, detectives determined the three individuals had been at Fletcher's home when a physical altercation evolved between Wood and a male friend.

A small-caliber handgun was introduced during the fight with Fletcher subsequently discharging one round into Wood's

shoulder area.

Wood was able to leave the residence, authorities said, and came to his own conclusion the wound was not life-threatening.

However, the next day, Wood reported the injury to Putnamville troopers. He was subsequently treated and released from the hospital.

The case was investigated by ISP Det. First Sgt. Jeff Hearon.

Assisting in the investigation and arrest were ISP Crime Scene Investigator Sgt. Kris Fitzgerald, ISP First Sgt. Matt Mischler and Troopers Yan Dravigne, Kyle Hall and James Crisp.

No court date has been set for Fletcher's initial hearing.
