Clovers run past Mounties, 96-61
NEW MARKET -- Cloverdale built a comfortable lead early before cruising to a road victory at Southmont Thursday night, 96-61.
The 35-point victory is the Clovers' (17-5) sixth straight -- all by at least 27 points.
An early run put Cloverdale up 15-2 on the Mounties (4-14) and the lead was 26-15 by the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was nearly as prolific for the Clovers, as they built a 66-28 halftime advantage.
The scoring slowed in the second half, but the damage was done, as the Mounties shaved just three points off the final deficit.
Senior K.J. Coleman and sophomore Cooper Neese led the Clovers with 24 points each.
The Clovers face their stoutest challenge in several weeks on Tuesday when they visit Rockville (13-8) in a 7:30 p.m. game.
