Fifth House Ensemble: Entrepreneurship Class

Melissa Snoza, executive director of Fifth House Ensemble, joins Dr. Bonnie Whiting's Entrepreneurship class as they identify and discuss ensembles that have successfully self-managed or hired external management, exploring strategies for Kickstarting professional ventures while in school, creating relationships with presenters and venues, and planning and communicating production/operations details to ensure successful projects.

Faculty Select Series Concert: Darcy McCoy, piano

with special guest, pianist John Clodfelter

If you think you have to sit still and be quiet for an hour because this is a piano concert, think again! During DePauw Professor Darcy McCoy's sensory-friendly recital of Spanish and Latin American music, audience members are encouraged to move about, come and go, ask questions, sit on the stage and, most importantly, be comfortable as they experience the music of Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados and Grammy-nominated composer Roberto Sierra. For the grand duo-piano finale of Manuel Infante's Tres Danzas Andaluzas, McCoy will be joined by acclaimed colleague John Clodfelter.

Green Guest Artist Concert: Maya Beiser, cello

A Classical Take on Classic Rock

Described as a "cello goddess" (The New Yorker) with "the kind of magnetic panache usually reserved for rock stars" (New York Magazine), Maya Beiser gives the cello a modern makeover for her program at DePauw, putting a classical spin on classic rock "uncovers" by Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd and Kurt Cobain, along with newer works written especially for her. Inspired by the musical traditions of North and South America and the Caribbean islands in between, this a cappella program includes folkloric tunes and traditions, music for the entertainment industry, art music for the concert stage and a variety of American hybrids of these influences: Negro Spiritual, Russian-Jewish melody cum Tin-Pan-Alley, Afro-Latin dance beats, Appalachian mountain tune, Atlantic Sea Shanty, shape-note and Shaker hymnody, Latin motet and more.
