Beech Grove UMC to celebrate 58th anniversary

Friday, March 6, 2015

On Sunday, March 8, the Beech Grove United Methodist Church will celebrate the 58th anniversary of the reopening of the church.

Worship service is at 11 a.m. with a pitch-in dinner to follow.

The church was closed for six years before a petition was taken around in 1957 by Hila Brattain and Mary Shonkwiler, both now deceased, and Helen Knauer who remains an active member of the church. She will give the congregation the history of the church that morning.

At that time the building had one room with carbite lights and two wood stoves. The church is quite different today.

Pastor Frank Brasel is the minister and his wife Faith serves alongside him.

Everyone is invited to come and join the church family Sunday.

Anyone who has any connection to the church from previous years, the group would love to hear from you.

The church is located in Clinton Township of Putnam County near the Parke County line, three miles south of U.S. 36.

For directions or other information, persons may call 653-9815.
