Reelsville home avoids serious damage in Monday fire

Monday, March 16, 2015

REELSVILLE -- Quick work by the Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department likely saved a home from serious damage Monday afternoon.

At 1:10 p.m., RVFD was dispatched to a house fire at 32 Jonathan Lane in Appleblossom Estates.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the underside of a house trailer on fire. Using 100 gallons of water, the firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread further.

No damage was done to the inside of the home itself or any contents inside.

The fire is believed to have been started by an electrical short in heat tape under the trailer.

Reelsville was assisted on scene by the Greencastle Fire Department, Operation Life Medic 5, Putnam County Sheriff's Department and Duke Energy.

Units were back in service at 2 p.m.

  • This was my home and I had the fire pretty much put out by the time the fire dept got to my home....they found a couple of hot spots and put water on them but in no way used 100 gallons of water....dont you have news investigators? Nobody talked to me about what really happened...very irresponsible reporting Banner Graphic shame on you!!

  • I need to add to what I said yesterday...I do appreciate the fire dept..showing up and ensuring that my home was safe to re-enter...but the story is still inaccurate ..
