Give Local Putnam County offers prizes, matching dollars

Sunday, May 3, 2015

Hosted by the Putnam County Community Foundation, Give Local Putnam County is a 24-hour, online giving event set for Tuesday, May 5.

While all endowments are eligible to compete, donations to unrestricted Community Grantmaking Endowments will receive the additional benefit of being matched dollar for dollar. The Community Grantmaking Programs of the Community Foundation provide more than $200,000 every year to local not-for-profit organizations that directly benefit Putnam County.

"This year, thanks to Lilly Endowment, the Community Foundation has the opportunity to match every dollar contributed to unrestricted endowments dollar for dollar," Ken Eitel, vice president of the Community Foundation, said. "The ability to double the impact of your gift on Give Local Putnam County Day is an exceptional opportunity."

Community Foundation Executive Director Elaine Peck noted that in addition to the match for unrestricted endowments, the Foundation will be awarding an additional $500 each to the two endowments raising the most money in online gifts on May 5.

Giving begins at 12 a.m. (midnight) and ends at 11:59 p.m., Give Local Putnam County raises money for the community to help make it a more vital, vibrant place to live. Give Local Putnam County connects our community with the national Give Local America day when community foundations from all over the country raise money for charitable endowments and nonprofits in their communities.

Secure credit card and debit card donations may be made online at www.pcfoundation.org.

Winners will be announced on or before May 15.
