Vine Street Lot Still Open

Despite the ongoing construction and street closures in and around South Vine Street in Greencastle, the Vine Street parking lot (across Walnut Street from the post office) can still be accessed for parking. Right now, drivers can still take Walnut to Vine to get into the lot. However, the city soon be making a temporary Walnut Street entrance to the lot for use during further construction. Meanwhile, the city's two new parking lots -- Market Street, adjacent to the Moose Lodge, and the one at Jackson, Walnut and Indiana streets -- are scheduled for final striping and parking bumper installation Friday morning, weather permitting. Gibraltar Construction spokesman Douglas Perry indicates his crew should be done and gone by noon or 1 p.m., leaving the lots free to use for parking at that point.
