Conversation with the sheriff set for Aug. 31 at Eli's/Starbucks

The public is invited to a "Conversation with Sheriff Scott Stockton" on Monday, Aug. 31, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the mezzanine at Eli's Books/Starbucks.

Sheriff Stockton began his term of office at the beginning of this year. He will be reflecting back on his first few months in office and sharing his plans for the future.

The meeting, which is sponsored by the Greencastle League of Women Voters, is open to the public. Time for questions from the audience will be provided.

Stockton, who was elected sheriff last November after winning a three-man Republican primary race that May.

He served the Indiana State Police in various capacities for 28 years. Stockton worked out of Wayne County for seven years, then participated with an interdiction program.

He then transferred to undercover operations where he represented ISP in being assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency for two years. He was then assigned to the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for another two years. Stockton was promoted to assistant commander of Special Investigations, then to commander of the Drug Unit. The sheriff holds both A.S. and B.S. degrees in law enforcement.
