CLOVERDALE -- A craft and talent show will help raise funds for the Cloverdale Community Clothe-a-Child program.

Coordinator Lita Sandy said the Clothe-a-Child program in Cloverdale has been thriving since the 1970s and last year helped 82 children in the Cloverdale Community School Corporation district.

The ninth annual Community Craft Show is set for Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Cloverdale High School gym. Sandy said the event usually features between 36 and 40 vendors.

Nearly a dozen vendors have already signed up for the event, which will include Thirty-One items, homemade soaps and food items. She noted spaces are only $20, all of which goes straight to the Clothe-a-Child program.

The curtain will raise for the "Just Dessert" benefit show at 4 p.m. in the cafetorium, with doors opening at 3 p.m.

Sandy said the event features a lot of local talent.

"There will be a disco theme this year, so a group of local guys will be doing YMCA," Sandy said.

Reservations are being accepted for the event, which will feature desserts and drinks served throughout the event. A table of six can be reserved for $50, with a table of eight available for $75.

Those who do not have reservations can make a donation at the door to sit in the stands and watch the talent show.

Sandy explained the school seeks out students in need during the holiday season. Families provide information about the student's favorite color for necessities, such as socks and other clothing items. The information is then passed along to shoppers who spend about $100.

She added shoppers also try to purchase toothbrushes and toothepaste, but if there is any additional money left a toy will be purchased.

While the Cloverdale Community Clothe-a-Child helped 82 children last year, area churches also step in to help as well.

Anyone interested in volunteering, renting vendor space or participating in the talent show can contact Sandy at 720-9155 or by email at bsandy@ccrtc.com.
