County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11:28 a.m. on Friday, Joshua Lee Doane, 32, Poland, was arrested on a warrant for three counts of battery against a public safety official.

* At 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, Justin Paul Shields, 30, New Ross, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license.

At 2:55 a.m. Leland Dale Buechler, 27, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Anthony Michael Leonard, 20, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

* At 12:11 a.m. on Monday, Donald Nelson Monroe III, 24, Gosport, was booked in for domestic battery, battery and strangulation.

At 10:10 a.m. John Robert Thomas Jr., 24, Poland, was arrested on a local warrant.

At 12:15 p.m. Nicholas Andrew Robert Tribbett, 24, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for contempt of court.

At 1:45 p.m. Autumn Burger (Bartley) Cooper, 30, Fillmore, was charged with possession of a device to interfere with a drug screen and violation of home detention.

At 2:05 p.m. Nicholas Raymond Hunter, 35, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a warrant for driving with a suspended license.

At 2:28 p.m. Kissandra Michelle Carr, 38, Greencastle, was booked in for probation violation.

* At 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, Erik David Wilburn, 28, Fillmore, was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and as a habitual traffic violator.

City Police

Four recent citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 11 a.m. Saturday, Thomas Crafton, 51, Cloverdale, was cited by Sgt. Ed Wilson.

Stopped at Washington and Bloomington streets, Crafton was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

* At 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Corey Duff, 19, Greencastle, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Cameron Paul.

Duff, who was ticketed for being an operator never licensed, was stopped at Shadowlawn Avenue and Robinwood Place.

* At 10:37 p.m. Friday, Nathan Hanley, 19, Terre Haute, was ticketed by Sgt. Eric Vaughan.

Hanley was stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue and cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

* At 9:18 p.m. Friday, Harlan Morris, 44, Pekin, Ill., was cited for being an operator never licensed.

Ticketed by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace, Morris was stopped on Washington Street.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County sheriff's deputies responded to several recent automobile accidents.

* At 4:06 a.m. on Friday, Randolph M. Lambermont, 61, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 40 east of U.S. 231 in a 2014 Dodge Journey when he hit a deer.

Deputy Anthony Brown estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000. The vehicle was towed.

* At 7:55 p.m. on Friday, Deputy Mike Downing responded to a pair of accidents caused by the same deer.

Elizabeth F. Fouts, 43, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 725 East in a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse when she hit the deer.

Damage in the first accident was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

The animal remained in the road when Marlena S. Verhey, 47, Coatesville, approached from the south, not noticing the animal in the dark.

Verhey told Downing she could not avoid hitting the animal.

Damage was listed at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 11:10 p.m. Friday, Kelsiann V. Terrell, 20, Danville, was northbound on County Road 600 East in a 2004 Pontiac Aztek.

Terrell told Brown she was attempting to make a right hand curve and ran off the road, hitting a tree.

The vehicle had to be towed. Damage was listed at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 11:27 a.m. on Saturday, Elizabeth I. Snodgrass, 88, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 490 West, stopped at the U.S. 36 intersection in a 2006 Jeep Liberty. Dylan C. Johnson, 20, Rosedale, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2003 Dodge Ram.

Snodgrass told Capt. Steve Fenwick she did not see Johnson approaching and tried to proceed through the intersection and was struck in the driver's side rear area. Johnson said he saw Snodgrass enter the intersection and veered right but could not avoid the collision.

Both vehicles were towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jeffrey L. Enlow, 21, Coatesville, was northbound on County Road 750 East in a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta when a deer entered the road.

Enlow told Reserve Deputy Brad Nelson he swerved to avoid the deer and spun out of control. It had not been raining, but the road was slick at the time.

The car left the road and hit an agricultural ditch, then bounced back on the road, coming to rest facing south, blocking both lanes.

The car was immovable and had to be towed.

Enlow was out of the vehicle upon the arrival of Nelson and Reserve Deputy Fred McIntire. The officers saw scrapes on Enlow's arms, but he declined medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to nine dispatches and six medical assists.

* At 8:42 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a gas leak at 104 N. Vine St. Believed to be a malfunctioning meter, the gas company took over the scene and GFD was clear at 9:37 a.m.

* At 5:09 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to an alleged vehicle fire at 1742 E. Rangeline Rd. A passerby reported a vehicle on the side of the road had caught fire. Upon arrival, GFD determined the car had a diesel engine and was simply producing excess smoke or exhaust. GFD cleared the scene at 5:41 p.m.

* At 1:59 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St.

* At 4:06 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was disregarded en route to a structure fire in Cloverdale.

* At 7:45 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 309 E. Franklin St. The alarm was believed to have been set off due to cooking.

* At 9:32 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident at 706 E. Washington St. GFD cleaned up fluids after a truck struck a power pole.

* At 3:54 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to, what ultimately became, a false alarm at 6 E. Washington St.

* At 9:08 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 626 E. Seminary St. GFD reset the second-floor alarm after being unable to determine a cause.

* At 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident (resulting in bodily injury) at 1901 E. State Road 240. GFD was not required to remove any persons from the accident.
