County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Kimberly Monnier, 42, Poland, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

At 1 p.m. Scott Alan Hockman, 44, Terre Haute, was booked in for probation violation.

At 11:22 p.m. Joshua Allen Smith, 32, Terre Haute, was charged with failure to appear, burglary and theft.

* At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, John Patrick Talaga, 18, Chicago, was housed at the jail for public intoxication and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

At 9 a.m. Jeremy Edward Krammes, 37, Connersville, was taken into custody for battery.

At 2:34 p.m. James Ewing Skinner, 35, no city listed, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

At 2:45 p.m. Brodie Alexander Prim, 18, Coatesville, was booked in on a warrant for child molestation.

At 3:45 p.m. Richard Childers, 39, Edinburgh, was housed at the jail on a court order for check deception.

At 7 p.m. Alina Maria Izaguirre, 47, Greencastle, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

At 8:45 p.m. Tony D. Starr, 32, Reelsville, was taken into custody on a warrant for operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to one recent auto accident.

* At 1:20 p.m. on Monday, Elizabeth F. Fouts, 43, Coatesville, was northbound on County Road 1000 East, approaching County Road 400 South in a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse.

She told Lt. Donnie Pettit she lost control of the vehicle due to snow and ice, left the north side of the intersection and hit a guardrail.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

Five recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 1:23 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident reported;y resulted in damage in excessive of $10,000.

Officer Nick Eastham reported that Michael Rumley, 26, Greencastle, was westbound on Indianapolis Road, approaching Judson Drive in a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, when he encountered traffic stopped at the light in front of him.

Rumley's foot slipped off the brake pedal as he tried to stop, and his vehicle struck the rear of a 2010 Dodge Caravan, driven by Diana Ruark, 65, Rockville.

* At 7:52 a.m. Monday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred on State Road 240 near Tennessee Street.

Capt. Chris Jones reported that James Roe, 33, Reelsville, was eastbound on 240 when he tried to grab his cell phone off the passenger seat. As he did, he inadvertently pressed down on the accelerator, Jones noted.

Roe's 2001 Ford Ranger then accelerated, striking the rear of an eastbound 1999 GMC van in front of him, driven by Phillip Rumley, 37, Cloverdale.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

Roe was ticketed for unreasonable speed.

* At 10:54 a.m. Monday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on Cottonwood Court as Paul Johnson, 32, Indianapolis, reportedly stopped a 1999 Dodge Ram across a driveway as he made a delivery.

Meanwhile, William Overman, 49, Greencastle, was backing a 2004 Toyota and a collision occurred, Officer Darrel Bunten reported.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

* At 3:17 p.m. Jan. 7, a three-vehicle accident was reported in traffic on State Road 240 near Ballard Lane.

Officer Eastham reported that traffic had backed up at the light with nearby factories letting out when Tyler Piersall, 21, Fillmore, was unable to stop his 2005 GM Sierra in time to avoid a collision.

Piersall's vehicle struck the rear of a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Patrick Hennis, 28, Poland, pushing it into the back of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by David Harris, 50, Bainbridge.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 12:15 p.m. Jan. 5, a two-car mishap occurred on East Washington Street at College Avenue as Debra Sands, 65, Greencastle, attempted to cross Washington Street northbound in a 2015 Honda CRV, Officer Bunten reported.

Sands reportedly pulled into the path of a westbound 1999 Ford Mustang, driven by Leah Hood, 45, Knightsville, and a collision resulted.

Total damage was listed at $5,000-$10,000.
