Upon the occasion of his recent retirement from Tri-County Bank, Rodger Winger was recognized with an award from the National Association of Secretaries of State.

Honored for his dedication to PUtnam County's youth, community and agriculture, Winger was presented with the award by Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson's husband Jack during his retirement reception at the Roachdale office.

Winger served a 28-year career at the bank, including serving as the first branch manager at the Crawfordsville South Boulevard location. For the last 20 years, he served as senior vice president overseeing the lending department.

The recognition was made due to the number of areas Winger had served his community during his career. He has served his church in a number of positions including treasurer, deacon, chairman of the finance committee and board secretary.

Winger has served the youth of the community as adviser to the North Putnam FFA, Bainbridge Youth Softball League coach and as a 4-H leader.

He currently serves as an officer and a member of the scholarship selection committee for the Purdue Club of Putnam County, as well as chairman of the scholarship committee of the Crawfordsville Rotary Club, in which he is a Paul Harris Fellow.

In the past, Winger also served as a member of the North Putnam School Board, the Putnam County 4-H Fair Board as chairman of the livestock auction committee, the Putnam County 4-H Council, the Putnam County Cooperative Extension Service and the Putnam County Community Foundation both as a board member and as chairman of the finance committee.

Winger has served on state committees with the Indiana Bankers Association and the Purdue Council for Agriculture, Extension and Teaching (PCARET). He has served the PCARET group as Area V president, vice president and secretary.

During the recognition ceremony, Lawson told the assembled crowd that Winger has previously been recognized for his service by being awarded the Friend of Extension, Friend of the Farmer by the Putnam County Ag Day Committee and honorary board member of the Putnam County Community Foundation.
