County Jail

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 10:40 a.m. Richard Lee Bline, 21, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for auto theft, possession of methamphetamine an possession of paraphernalia.

• At 9:41 a.m. Gavin Mark Arthurs, 19, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 5:29 a.m. Joseph Labon Drury III, 30, Brazil, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

• At 2:46 a.m. Taureen Kyron Terry, 34, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for criminal trespass and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

Saturday

• At 11:29 p.m. Robert D. Rude, 51, Clayton, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

• At 1:45 p.m. Dorothy A. Fielding, 61, Greencastle, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

• At 12:40 a.m. Daniel Alexander Kirk, 19, Kansas City, Mo., was housed at the jail for auto theft, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, criminal mischief and battery.

Friday

• At 6:24 p.m. John Ingomar Maynard, 54, Reelsville, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated with alcohol.

• At 3:48 p.m. Harmik Avakemin, 64, Canyon Country, Calif., was arrested for possession of a narcotic drug and possession of a controlled substance.

• At 2:05 p.m. Alyssa Jane Carter, 23, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to nine recent property damage accidents.

• At noon on Sunday, Allison N. Judy, 41, Lafayette, was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching Indiana 236 in a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder. Kyndall B. Williams, 21, Greencastle, was stopped on 236 waiting to turn left onto 231 in a 2002 Dodge Ram.

Williams told Deputy Matt Biggs he saw Judy approaching but believed he had time to turn. Judy applied her bakes but could not avoid Williams’ vehicle when it pulled into her path.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Douglas E. Lawson, 63, Coatesville, was westbound on Indiana 236 in a 2011 Chevrolet pickup when he hit a deer.

Deputy Scott Ducker said the vehicle was disabled due to an oil leak and had to be towed. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 8:57 p.m. on Saturday, Phillip J. Frost, 63, Cloverdale, was southbound on Indiana 243 in a 2014 Ford Fusion.

Frost told Deputy Riley Houghton that as he accelerated out of a corner a deer ran into his path. He could not avoid the collision.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 6:19 p.m. on Saturday, Jonathan T. Scroggin, 20, Greencastle, was attempting to back out of a parking space at Lieber State Recreation Area in a 1997 Buick Park Avenue. A 1997 Ford Tarus driven by Sheila Y. Wright, 61, Cloverdale, was parked in a space behind Scroggin.

As Scroggin was backing out, he collided with the right front fender of Wright’s vehicle.

Deputy Houghton estimated damage at less than $1,000.

• At 5 p.m. on Saturday, Monty R. Rader, 50, Greencastle, was traveling southeast through Dunbar Covered Bridge in a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Frederick L. Buttery, 40, Russellville, was approaching the bridge from the east in a 2001 Ford Explorer.

As Rader was approaching the end of the bridge, Buttery rounded the sharp corner at the end of the bridge, not seeing Rader’s approach.

The two collided on the bridge, causing minimal damage to both.

Deputy Biggs estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 5:40 p.m. Friday, Russell E. Rice, 65, Russellville, was driving down an alley that leads to Indiana Street in Russellville in a 1987 Chevrolet Van. Five-year-old Waylon Hanson of Russellville was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk of Indiana Street.

The child was riding quickly toward his father, who had just arrived home.

Rice did not see the boy and hit the bicycle with the front passenger side of the van.

Hanson was transported to Hendricks Regional Hospital, having suffered a minor concussion.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 11:50 a.m. on Friday, Pamela A. Nees, 47, Cloverdale, had pulled into a driveway off of Indiana 243 in a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. She had stopped to inquire about purchasing hay from Theodore H. Baker, 65, Coatesville, who was pulled into a hayfield with a 2004 Dodge Ram and trailer.

Learning that Baker was not selling hay but obtaining it, she prepared to pull out of the driveway. However, she told Capt. Tom Helmer that Baker began to pull away and the left side of his trailer hit the left front of her vehicle.

Baker told Helmer his vehicle was jack-knifed and he was attempting to pull away when the other vehicle rolled forward, causing his trailer to hit it.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At midnight on Wednesday, July 30, a worker at The Waters of Greencastle was finishing her shift when she noticed minor damage to her 2010 Hyundai Elantra.

Tanggie K. Huffer, Greencastle, told Deputy Anthony Brown her vehicle had been parked in the lot. She noticed damage to the driver’s side rear following her shift.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, Josa A. Jacobo Garcia, 48, Indianapolis, was westbound on West Walnut Street just east of County Road 550 West in a 2006 Nissan Altima.

Jacobo Garcia told Lt. Donnie Pettit he lost control while rounding a curve on wet pavement. The vehicle left the road and went through a fence.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
