Fiddle ’n’ Feet, a group of traditional dancers and musicians influenced by Appalachian clogging, Irish step dancing and French Canadian waltzes and reels, will perform a range of percussive dances to live music at DePauw University on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The concert, presented by DePauw’s Performing Arts Series, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, located within the Green Center for the Performing Arts.

The program is presented free of admission charge and is open to the public.

The group’s dance troupe, the Foot Squad, will dance to music performed by the Midwest Central Ramblers with Jamie Gans and Tamara Loewenthal on the fiddles and vocals, Sam Bartlett on banjo, mandolin and vocals, Jim Nelson on guitar and vocals, and Dedo Norris on bass and vocals.

Following the DePauw performance, audience members will be invited to join the dancers in a beginner’s level “Community Social” dance of traditional square and contra dances, called by Tamara Loewenthal. No experience is necessary to participate, however, veteran square and contra dancers are also encouraged to participate.

Refreshments will be provided.

Fiddle ‘n’ Feet has performed shows at popular events, including the annual Bloomington Craft Beer Festival and Penrod Arts Fair in Indianapolis. They are also featured in the Indy Arts Guide as one of the Circle City’s top free attractions.
