County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 5:31 p.m. Christopher Wayne Johnson, 38, Bloomington, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:20 a.m. Patricia Ann Roach, 41, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 4:16 p.m. Wednesday, Jacob Nathaniel Scobee, 18, Roachdale, was arrested for theft after an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart.

Scobee, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee after reportedly opening a package of arrow tips for a bow and arrow and concealing the items in his pants pocket.

Value of the merchandise was listed at $50.

• At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Phoung-Vu Nguyen, 45, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for theft of a firearm, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and false informing.

Officer Nick Eastham arrested Nguyen at Putnam Plaza after he allegedly took the firearm after entering a vehicle parked along the curb in front of the tobacco shop while its owner was in the store.

When asked for identification, Nguyen reportedly gave the officer a false name initially.

Two recent citations were issued by city officers.

• At 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Timothy Jedele, 30, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Zach Rhine.

Stopped on Veterans Memorial Highway, Jedele was ticketed for having expired plates (June 14).

• At 11:13 a.m. Wednesday, Kraig Sargent, 21, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Sargent was cited for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies responded to three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Ciara L. Boyer, 37, North Salem, was southbound on County Road 50 East in a 2007 Ford Expedition. She told Deputy Matt Biggs a wide farm implement was northbound and she pulled over to the shoulder on the back of a hillcrest to make room.

Madison C. Beaulier, 17, Roachdale, was also southbound in a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant. She told Biggs she could not stop in time to avoid rear-ending Boyer’s SUV, which was stopped.

No one was injured. Boyer had two small children with her and child restraints were checked before she departed.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Megan A. Clem, 22, Cloverdale, was westbound on County Road 25 South just west of County Road 125 West in a 2002 Suzuki XL7.

Lt. Donnie Pettit reported that the vehicle ran off the north side of the road for unknown reasons and hit a tree.

Clem was cited for operating without proof of financial responsibility.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 1:14 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, Chancy L. Anderson, 21, Coatesville, was westbound on State Road 240 in a 2001 Ford F150.

Anderson told Deputy Anthony Brown he could not recall what happened but he had seen a bright light and knew it was involved in the crash.

Brown reported that the truck left the south side of the road before crossing back over and leaving the north side of the road. As the truck left the road it spun 180 degrees and hit a large tree. It came to rest facing east.

Operation Life transported Anderson to Hendricks Regional Hospital.

The truck was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
