David B. Johnson, age 70, of Somerset, Ky., passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky.

David was born on Sept. 18, 1946 in Indianapolis to the late Benjamin and Mary Jaynes Johnson.

He was a retired control tech with Central Parking in New York. David was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.

He resided in Lake Hopatcong, N.J., then retired to Somerset.

David enjoyed fishing, hiking, looking for arrowheads and electronics.

David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Neeley Johnson, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1980 in Greencastle; sons Benjamin Johnson of Indiana and Frank (and Tina) Price of Lake Hopatcong; daughters Angie (and Nathan) Bowman of Cape Coral, Fla., Tammie (and David) Haller, of Greencastle and Lauri (and Kelly) Cooney, Cape Coral; sisters Becky (and Luther) Spear, of Glasgow, Ky. and Billie Jo (and Merle) Smith, of Glasgow; grandchildren Kimberly Bowman, Paige Bowman, Drakken, Elizzabeth, Erikka and Noah Johnson, Amanda, Brittany, Kelley and Michael Cooney, James Price, Jessica Velez and Courtney Price; two great-grandchildren, Vincent and Dominic; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gus Johnson and grandson Sean Patrick Cooney.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home, Somerset.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 38 Honor Guard.

Burial will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery, Somerset.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to American Heart Association or Kidney Foundation.

Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
