Putnam Scanner for 3-4-17

County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 5:35 p.m. Michael Jason Muse, 34, Gosport, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:58 p.m. Jennifer Gail Pritchard, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody for theft and criminal trespass.

• At 2:18 p.m. Robert D. Rude, 51, Clayton, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

Officer Kyle Lee was called to the Walmart store on Indianapolis Road at 12:50 p.m. Thursday to investigate a reported shoplifting incident.

Being charged with theft in the incident is Lectie Stidham, 48, Greencastle, who allegedly concealed $35.73 in cosmetics by reportedly putting them up her sleeve.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Stidham was also arrested on an outstanding Marion County warrant for possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dereck Burchett, 38, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Lee at an Avenue E residence.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Burchett is being held on a Putnam County warrant for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a syringe.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to two dispatches.

• At 10:54 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1901 E. State Road 240 (Ascena). A small fire in a light fixture was reported, though the flames had already been extinguished upon GFD’s arrival. GFD checked for extensions of the flames but found nothing. GFD subsequently reset the alarm and returned to station at 11:19 p.m.

• At 10:10 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to reports of smoke in a residence at 827 Gardenside Dr. GFD observed some light smoke in the residence but no flames were present. After investigating, GFD determined the motor in the building’s furnace had burned out, causing smoke but no fire. GFD returned to station at 10:38 a.m.
