County athletes preparing for indoor track state finals

Several Putnam County athletes have qualified for the Hoosier State Relays indoor track meet, which will be Saturday at Indiana University’s Gladstein Fieldhouse.

The competitors are divided into large school and small school divisions, with athletes from Greencastle, South Putnam and Cloverdale competing in the small school event.

Leading the participants is Greencastle sophomore Emma Wilson, the eighth-place finisher last spring in the girls’ 3,200-meter run.

Wilson has the best seeded time in her event at 10:45.22, more than 40 seconds faster than the nearest competitor.

Others who will be participating, and their seeded times/distances are:

• Tyler Kaeff, Jr., Cloverdale — Boys’ 60-meter hurdles, tied for fourth-fastest seeded time at 8.68.

• Kieffer Vittetow, Sr., South Putnam — Boys’ 3,200-meter run, ninth-fastest seeded time of 9:48.18.

• Clayton Wilson, Sr., Greencastle — Boys’ 3,200-meter run, 22nd fastest seeded time of 10:06.43.

• Cloverdale 4x400-meter relay — Has 23rd fastest seeded time of 3:37.07. Names not available.

• South Putnam boys’ distance medley relay team — Has seventh-fastest seeded time of 11:09.90. Names not available.

• Greencastle girls’ distance medley relay team — Has second-fastest seeded time of 12:54.39. Names not available.

• Blake Willis, Jr., Cloverdale — Tied for second-best height in boys’ pole vault at 12-0.

• Carlie Capps, Sr., Greencastle — Has seventh-best seeded distance in boys’ shot put at 43-7.75.

• Nailah Ray, Sr., Greencastle — Tied for best seeded distance in girls’ shot put at 32-00.5.
