Clinton Falls is a small, quaint community in Clinton Township on the west side of Putnam County, described as “charming and historic.”

It has a rich history, with deep roots going back to 1825. It has a history, as thick as the woods surrounding it, and is just as beautiful too.

At one point there was a distillery, breathing life into the area during the prohibition age. There have been several farming families keeping the traditions of Putnam County agriculture alive for generations. There is a famed covered bridge, accompanied with its very own ghost story and all.

Clinton Falls also has a weather station as pictured. As you can see from this weather station the sense of humor and character in this small community is never lacking.

You can find the details about all of this gorgeous history in the book, “Clinton Falls A Look At Its Unique History” by Malcolm Romine in the Putnam County Museum Gift Shop, located at 1105 N. Jackson St., Greencastle. You can pick up your own copy Tuesday-Friday from 1-4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. You can reach the museum by phone at 653-8419.
