Toddler drowns in Van Bibber Lake

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the Monday death of a two year-old Putnam County boy.

The boy was found in the water of Van Bibber Lake a few feet from the shore, shortly after 6:05 p.m.

His mother reported the boy missing with a call to Putnam County 911 Dispatch at 6 p.m.

The boy was found a few minutes later, unresponsive in the water. CPR was initiated and continued by family members until relieved by emergency medical personnel.

He was transported to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life. He was pronounced dead at 6:57 p.m.

No further details are available at this time pending an investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

  • Prayers to all involved. Queen what a horrible thing to say. Toddlers are very quick. You shouldn't be so quick to cast blame.....unfortunately accidents happen.

  • Well hometowngirl, I raised a toddler, and I know how "quick" they are. Only more reason to watch more closely.
