Ivy Tech offering track from practical to registered nursing

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Ivy Tech Community College Greencastle is offering a Licensed Practical Nursing to Associate of Science in Nursing track beginning in January 2018.

Those interested in learning more are encouraged to attend an information session at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at Ivy Tech Greencastle, 915 Zinc Mill Rd.

The LPN to ASN Transitional Track allows licensed practical nurses to prepare for the NCLEX-RN examination to become registered nurses.

The track requires a minimum of 55 credit hours to complete. To be eligible, students must have a practical nursing license and apply to Ivy Tech’s program by Sept. 1.

Ivy Tech Greencastle also offers the Practical Nursing program for those who want to start a career in the nursing field. Nursing students have opportunities to care for real patients in a variety of clinical settings, and skills are also learned in simulation labs.

The growing use of the simulations allows students to assume roles not available to students in a clinical setting. That allows them to make critical choices and see the results of those choices.

A variety of learning strategies are utilized in the classroom and clinical settings to appeal to varied learning styles. Persons can learn more at www.ivytech.edu/nursing.
