Robert L. Christian

Robert L. Christian, 80, of Greencastle, passed peacefully away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born April 6, 1937 to the late Charles and Frances (Sparks) Christian in Tazewell County, Va.

He worked 30 years for Union Carbide, retiring as a service technician in 1985.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Connie A. (Newlin) Christian. They shared 52 years of marriage.

He is also survived by four daughters, Debbie (Roger) Block, Kathy (Bob) Whitaker, Julie (Brian) Wagoner and Patty Blakley; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, along with countless friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jo Ruth, Dave, Russell (Jr.) and Jesse.

In addition to his devotion to his family, Bob enjoyed ginseng and mushroom hunting, fishing and reading.

He (Dad/Papaw) will be remembered for his sense of humor his unwavering love for his wife and family.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Plainfield. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
