Wayne Mitchener, 86, of Coatesville (Heritage Lake), passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 25, 2017.

Born July 19, 1931 in Fairmount, Ind., he was the son of Clyde Friend Mitchener and Edith Mae (Sparks) Mitchener.

He married Connie Hughes on Jan. 23, 1954, and she survives.

Wayne worked for 35 years at Allison Gas Turbine GM. He served as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1951-54.

He was Cub Scout Leader, Pack 230, Mooresville, and held various positions in scouting from 1966 to 1982.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Mooresville, former board member of the church in 1970s and 1980s.

He was a former member of the Heritage Lake POA, also board member and A&E Committee.

He was a former member of the Allison Fire Brigade and Gregg Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.

His parents and daughters Dawn Rogier and Jil Olinger preceded him in death.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons Mike (Mary) Mitchener and Dan (Dawn) Mitchener; grandchildren Matt Sutton, Brad Sutton, Becky (Travis) McCoy, Andy Mitchener, Josh Mitchener and Trevor Mitchener.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday with visitation from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 in the Bousley Funeral Home in Coatesville with Pastor Gary Mitchener officiating.

Inurnment will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery at Heritage Lake.
