Isabelle Lorene (Templeman) Sims, 92, of Cloverdale, was called home by God on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2017 at Putnam County Hospital.

Lorene was born on Aug. 9, 1925 in Greencastle, the daughter of Elizabeth Lee Payne Templeman and Flem Dud Templeman.

She was married to Floyd Ivy Sims for more than 59 years. They were wed on Jan. 4, 1949. Floyd preceded her in death on April 22, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Templeman.

Floyd and Lorene had five children, Marjorie Kay Sims Buehler, June Sims Finney, Linda Sims (Terry) Hoffa, Mike Sims and (Carol) Jeanna Sims. Lorene is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, one niece and three nephews.

Lorene graduated from New Maysville (Bainbridge) High School in 1939. She attended Business College in Indianapolis.

Lorene worked at Montgomery Ward in Greencastle.

After she and Floyd were married, they farmed in rural Cloverdale for their entire married life.

Lorene was an active member of Amity Baptist Church in Cloverdale for more than 60 years, serving in the choir, teaching Sunday School, volunteering with Vacation Bible School for many years and publishing the church programs for more than 41 years.

She was also an active member of the Ladies' Fidelity Bible Class, and the Daytime Darlings Home Economics Club.

Lorene loved to travel and always eagerly anticipated the next adventure. A favorite trip was her Alaskan cruise. One of her latest adventures was an airboat ride in Florida, and riding the Skyway at the Indiana State Fair.

She had just moved into Mill Pond Health Campus a month earlier. She felt safe and enjoyed the many activities and being served her meals. She loved getting her nails done and catching up with longtime friends.

Visitation will be held at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastors Tim Tesmer and Kevin Ooley officiating.

Interment services will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Lorene's daughters will be greeting family and friends at Amity Baptist Church, 6215 E. State Road 42, Cloverdale, immediately following the services.
