Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage accident.

• At 1:33 p.m. on Friday, Tricia J. Gregory, 32, Brazil, was northeast-bound on Manhattan Road in a 2004 Nissan Xterra.

She told Capt. Tom Helmer she attempted to negotiate a curve and “apparently was going too fast” when the right side tires left the travel portion of the road.

Gregory swerved left, sliding across both lanes and leaving the west side of the road. The vehicle hit the ditch and rolled over into a cornfield.

On routine patrol, Helmer happened upon the crash just after it happened. Gregory was briefly entrapped but another motorist helped her out of the vehicle.

Operation Life transported Gregory to Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Reelsville Fire Department and deputies Scott Ducker and Jacob Harrington all assisted at the scene.

The SUV was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
