Four arrested after stealing shoes from Cloverdale minor
CLOVERDALE -- Four men were recently arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement, criminal trespass and robbery after stealing a pair of shoes from a Cloverdale minor and then hiding in the Cloverdale High School parking lot.
Samuel L. Hutchins, 18, of Indianapolis; Kylynn T. Muhammad, 20, of Vincennes; Avery K. Moss, 19, of Indianapolis; and Kier K. Sardin, 19, of Kenosha, Wis., were all charged with Level 6 felony criminal trespass. All but Sardin also face a charge of resisting law enforcement, and Hutchins is the only one charged with robbery, a Level 5 felony.
The minor had been trying to sell the shoes on Instagram and been communicating with the suspects, who drove to his house to purchase the shoes.
While the minor was standing alone in his front yard, Hutchins reportedly stole the shoes and all four suspects drove away, according to accounts by the minor, three of the suspects and a witness.
The witness followed the suspects and reported that they had stopped in the Cloverdale High School parking lot, from which all but Sardin fled when the Cloverdale Police Department arrived.
Two of the suspects were found in a dumpster after a car was seen driving near the buses. An officer sent to investigate discovered the driver, who did not know what had happened, had been asked by the two suspects to pick them up.
Initially, police did not know there was a fourth suspect until the other three told them there was a fourth man who they claimed had actually committed the robbery. With assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police, all three had been apprehended an hour after they fled.
