Big school players highlight boys' Indiana All-Star team
Thirteen players have been selected for the 2018 IndyStar Indiana Boys All-Stars, including 11 from Class 4A schools.
Those chosen to the team will play three games in June -- one exhibition game against the Indiana Junior All-Stars as well as home-and-home contests against the Kentucky All-Stars.
The 2018 Indiana Boys All-Stars (listed alphabetically) are: Damezi Anderson of South Bend Riley, Gavin Bizeau of Plainfield, Jarron Coleman of Cathedral, Chance Coyle of Bloomington South, Kevin Easley of Lawrence North, Sean East of New Albany, Aaron Henry of Ben Davis, Eric Hunter of Tindley, Mekhi Lairy of Evansville Bosse, Romeo Langford of New Albany, Robert Phinisee of McCutcheon, Dean Tate of Warren Central and De'Avion Washington of Terre Haute South.
Lairy is the only Class 3A player on the team, while Hunter is the only player from Class 1A included on the team.
The head coach for the 2018 Boys All-Stars will be Jim Shannon of New Albany. He will be assisted by Mike Hall of South Newton and Scott Radeker of Lafayette Jeff.
The 2018 IndyStar Indiana Mr. Basketball will be announced from a group of six finalists -- Anderson, Henry, Hunter, Lairy, Langford and Phinisee -- at The Star's Indiana Sports Awards Dinner on April 29 at Clowes Memorial Hall in Indianapolis.
The Junior-Senior exhibition game is set for June 6 at a site to be announced. The first game against Kentucky will be June 8 at Bellarmine University's Knights Hall in Louisville. The final game against Kentucky will be June 9 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
All three dates will be doubleheaders with the IndyStar Indiana Girls All-Stars.
Also, the Indiana Junior All-Stars will play the Kentucky Junior All-Stars on June 2 in Kentucky and June 3 in Indiana, with sites to be announced. Those events also will be girls-boys doubleheaders.
