James Lee Parker

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

James Lee Parker, 76, Greencastle, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Parker was born Feb. 2, 1942 in Brazil, Ind., to the late Otis and Mary Geneva (Galbreath) Parker.

Parker was raised in Indianapolis on the West Side where he owned and operated Parker's Paint and Body Shop for 35 years. He also co-owned Hendricks County Auto Parts from 1975-1980.

Parker loved all things Ford and all things auto racing.

He was an avid outdoorsman and quite a character in the personality department. He once built a roller coaster for his daughters and even took them scuba diving at ages seven and eight. When he proudly customized their first cars, the girls ended up with a '72 Barracuda and '69 Firebird.

Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Mary Geneva (Galbreath) Parker, and his brother, Dennis Parker.

He leaves behind his daughters, Bonnie Johnson and her husband, Jay, and Crystal Parker; grandsons Ryan Johnson and his wife Raenetta and Kyle Johnson; six great-grandchildren, David, Kayde, Logan, Marley Clayton and Lindsey; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

Parker's family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 925 E. Hanna Ave., Indianapolis.

The funeral will be conducted the following day at New Providence Baptist Church with a calling hour starting at 10 a.m. A good, old fashioned, country funeral will begin at 11 a.m.

A committal service will follow at New Providence Cemetery where a vintage 1955 Ford truck will carry Parker to his final resting place across from the church. Please join us to celebrate his life at 6526 S. County Road 550 East, Greencastle.
