Strike Up the Band

Tuesday, April 24, 2018
Construction work begins on the new Robe-Ann Park Bandshell as Cash Concrete makes a delivery to the site Tuesday afternoon while workmen from Joe Spiker Excavating prepare the foundation for the facility, which is targeted for completion at the end of May, weather and materials availability permitting. The new bandshell, with an elevated stage with native timber and limestone finishes, is seen as a gathering place for music, celebrations and family get-togethers. The old bandshell, which was erected in time for the nation’s Bicentennial celebration in 1976, was demolished in February 2017 after the failing condition of the structure was discovered during repair attempts.

  • Where is the new bandshell located in the park? I can't tell with the house in the background.

    Response by Eric Bernsee:
Up the hill a bit to the west from the old site and slightly to the northeast so onlookers aren't staring into the setting sun.
