Putnam County officials detail road work schedule for 2018

Thursday, June 28, 2018

With the recent selection of Dave O’Mara Contractor for the county’s hot mix road paving in 2018, Putnam County Highway officials have released a tentative schedule for road work for the year.

Besides the 14.73 miles of hot mix paving by O’Mara, county highway crews will also do 3.86 miles of grind and chip and seal as well as 53.07 miles of chip and seal for a grand total of 71.66 miles of road work in 2018.

County Highway Supervisor Mike Ricketts told the Banner Graphic that paving will start after July 15.

Work was set to begin this week to wedge level the chip and seal roads in preparation for application.

“After we finish ditching and berming the roads we will begin with our grinding and chip and seal process,” Ricketts said. “Once complete we will move on to chip and sealing the rest of the roads that we have prepared for this year.”

While the list of roads is tentative, Ricketts is hopeful that crews will be able to even do a few roads not on the schedule.

The work will take place in 12 of 13 townships.

  • Thanks Jared for reporting this. I hope the county is able to fix 1200 south east of 231 as it is in far, far worst shape than west of 231
