Parke County Tox-Away Day set Sept. 15

ROCKVILLE -- The annual Parke County Tox-Away Day is coming on Saturday, Sept. 15, the West Central Solid Waste District has announced.

Rain or shine, the event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Rockville.

Putnam County residents are invited to take part in the Rockville event even though the local Tox-Away Day was conducted May 19.

Persons dropping off items are asked not to arrive before 7:45 a.m. as it interferes with event set-up.

Tox-Away Days are sponsored by West Central Solid Waste District to provide Putnam, Montgomery and Parke county residents with the opportunity to recycle or safely dispose of household hazardous waste such as appliances, tires, electronics, chemicals and unwanted medication for free or reduced rates.

Businesses are prohibited are participating in Tox-Away Day.
