Greencastle Drug Take Back event set Oct. 27

Monday, October 1, 2018

The Greencastle Police Department will again partner with the Greencastle School Corporation and the Drug Enforcement Agency Office to participate in the National Drug Take Back Day event scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Officials from GPD will be set up outside at Greencastle High School, 910 E. Washington St., just in front of the GHS main office area.

Residents of Putnam County who have expired, unused or unwanted medications in their medicine cabinets may bring them to this event.

Authorities will box them up and deliver them to the DEA office downtown Indianapolis, where they are placed in an incinerator and destroyed.

Labels do not have to be removed, as any information on the prescriptions bottles will be destroyed in the incinerator.

To date, the Greencastle Police Department and Greencastle School Corporation have participated in 14 Drug Take Back events, collecting 4,151.5 pounds of medications.
