Merl E. Grimes

Merl E. Grimes, 92, Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.

He was born June 18, 1926 in Kokomo, the son of Albert Lee and Martha Luvinnie (Norris) Grimes.

Merl was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.

He was a maintenance supervisor with DePauw University for more than 50 years, retiring in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Pettit) Grimes; children Constance Brown, Rebecca (husband Rodney) Bond, Debra Wood, David (wife Faye) Grimes and Martha (husband James) Knoebel; eight grandsons and one granddaughter; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Frank, Fred, Albert and Donald Grimes.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
