County Jail

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 6:39 p.m. McKenzie Cheyenne King, 22, Pana, Ill., was lodged at the jail for domestic battery in the presence of a minor, neglect of a dependent and reckless driving.

• At 4:23 p.m. Roy Allen Mitchell, 29, Quincy, was taken into custody for domestic battery, neglect of a dependent, disorderly conduct and reckless driving.

• At 2:34 p.m. Mandy Marie Marentette, 33, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a Morgan County warrant.

• At 1:39 a.m. Christopher Lee Dixie, 34, Greencastle, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 11:26 p.m. David Christopher Terry, 50, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 2:54 p.m. Norman Eugene Taylor, 49, Centerpoint, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 1:40 a.m. Jonathan Choy, 27, Derry, N.H., was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 12:50 a.m. Joshua Paul McQuigg, 34, North Vernon, was booked in on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 9:06 p.m. Damon John Miller, 41, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:43 p.m. Shane Christopher Dunlap, 36, Liberty Township, Ohio, was taken into custody on a court order.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:29 a.m. on Monday, Melissa M. Sanders, 46, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 40 when a deer ran into the driver’s side front of her 2013 Chrysler 200.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 9:31 a.m. on Saturday, Trista R. Stattner, 26, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2005 Dodge Caravan when she hit a deer.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000. The van was towed.

• At 10:46 p.m. on Friday Dylan J. Phillips, 17, Reelsville, was southbound on County Road 250 East in a 2000 Dodge Dakota when a deer ran in front of him.

Phillips told Deputy Daniel Birt he swerved to miss the animal and his passenger side tires dropped off the edge of the road, pulling him further off the road.

The truck then hit a power pole owned by Hendricks Power.

Birt estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 8:56 p.m. on Friday, Patrick J. Harlan, 25, Brazil, was traveling southwest on County Road 445 West in a 2000 Chrysler Sebring.

Harlan told Deputy Birt he made the bend in the road to head south but felt the car slipping, ultimately sliding off the road and into the ditch. The car came to rest facing west.

The car was towed. Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 11 recent dispatches:

• At 8:40 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 800 S. College Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:46 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 8:53 p.m.

• At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at 1528 E. State Rd. 240 for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:39 and discovered that a sprinkler head at the property had been damaged and set the alarm off. GFD went back into service at 1:42 a.m.

• GFD responded to three successive alarms at 208 E. Olive St. on Saturday:

At 2:51 a.m., GFD was dispatched to the property for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:55 and determined that the alarm had been set off due to excessive amounts of perfume. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 3 a.m.

At 3:45 a.m., GFD was dispatched again to the property for another fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:49 and determined that the alarm was due to popcorn. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 3:55 a.m.

• At 1:57 p.m., GFD was alarmed for another fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:02 p.m. and determined that the alarm was due to hairspray. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 2:26 p.m.

• At 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 412 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:49 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 7:55 p.m.

• At 11:11 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched again to 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:17 but could not determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:25 p.m.

• At 5:41 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was alarmed to a downed power line at 107 Cassada Dr. Units arrived at 5:51 and found that a tree had fallen and that the power line had been on fire. The fire was out before GFD arrived on the scene. GFD waited until the power provider arrived to assess the situation. GFD went back into service at 6:10 a.m.

• At 12:43 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:48 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1 p.m.

• At 2:19 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at approximately 2:20 but could not determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 2:26 p.m.

• At 8:47 a.m. on Monday, GFD was called to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Washington and Locust streets. Units arrived on the scene at 8:49 and cleaned up debris from the accident. GFD cleared the scene at 9:22 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed four medical assists during this time.
