Dr. Thomae

The next Senior Education Ministries Dine with a Doc program is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26 at the Putnam County Hospital, 1542 Bloomington St., Greencastle.

This month’s special guest is Dr. Keith Thomae, the newest addition to the Putnam Surgical Specialties and Putnam County Hospital Department of Surgery surgical staff.

Dine with a Doc, scheduled the fourth Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon, is a free community-based program that welcomes local seniors to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch.

The Dine with a Doc program is designed to allow seniors to get out of their homes to fellowship with their peers with the goal of improving their quality of life and providing them with the resources and information to make an informed choice about their healthcare.

With more than 20 years experience and a member of several surgical societies, Dr. Thomae joins the Putnam County team after performing approximately 20,000 cases. He has vast knowledge in abdominal issues, hernia, gallbladder, colon issues, GI issues, laparoscopy, vein care, cosmetic surgery, trauma and critical care, emergency surgeries and EGDs.

Dr. Thomae studied medicine at the University of Wisconsin followed by a residency at Loyola University-Chicago. He earned his associate professor of surgery/trauma at the University of Mississippi.

A question-and-answer period will follow his presentation.

Hickory Creek at Sunset will offer a complimentary lunch and wellness clinic (blood pressure screening). Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes.
